Connacht's Ultan Dillane has been ruled out for the rest of the season after having surgery on a shoulder injury.

The lock had been enjoying a remarkable year which saw him become a regular in Joe Schmidt's Ireland squad.

Connacht today released information that the second rower had a successful operation on his shoulder injury but will require the remainder of the season to recuperate.

The westerners also advised that Conor Carey, Nepia Fox-Matamua, Peter Robb, Matt Healy and Cian Kelleher are all unavaible through injury while Marnitz Boshoff has returned to South Africa following the passing of his father.

The team's Ireland contingent are all available for the game against Glasgow Warriors this weekend while Josh Rowland has returned to training
