Urijah Faber predicts knockout victory for Garbrandt over Dillashaw

Urijah Faber has predicted a knockout finish for Cody Garbrandt for his men's UFC bantamweight title defence against T.J. Dillashaw in July.

The pair will meet in the main event at UFC 213, with Garbrandt flying the Team Alpha Male (TAM) flag against the gym's former member.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Faber - a former bantamweight champion himself - said he expects Garbrandt's heavy hands finish Dillashaw.

"I think it’ll probably be a knockout, just because Cody hits hard," Faber said.

"We’ve seen it in his fights, we’ve seen it in the room. He’s got a history. T.J.’s also a heavy hitter, but not like Cody. They’re going to be in a gun fight."

Garbrandt dethroned Dominick Cruz at UFC 207 last December to win the 135lbs strap and now prepares for his first title defence this summer.

Dillashaw won the title back in 2015 at UFC 173 by beating Renan Barao. The Texan knocked out the Brazilian in the fifth round of their championship bout and Dillashaw went on to successfully defend the title against Joe Soto at UFC 177.

He would face Barao for a second time at UFC on FOX 16 and repeat the feat by securing a fourth round TKO.

Faber, who trains Garbrandt at the TAM gym in California, says he will do his best to prepare to the 25-year-old for this summer's bout.

"I’m going to play a large roll in general, as I have been and in the future with Cody and his training and everything else.

"I mean, those guys have fought each other a bunch of times. I remember all sorts of times when these guys were going at each other in the gym."
