Vicente del Bosque and Iker Casillas look to have buried the hatchet

Vicente del Bosque's tenure as Spain manager will go down as one of the most successful spells in the history of international management, as he lead his side to glory at the World Cup and European Championships.

His captain and first choice 'keeper for much of that tenure was Iker Casillas, but as the side crashed out of the European Championships against Italy, there were reports of tensions between the two

With both Del Bosque and Casillas leaving the national side after their exit, the former Real Madrid manager told Spanish radio station Cadena SER that the goalkeeper did not take being demoted to the bench very well.

"With his team-mates, he was OK, but with the coaching staff, his behaviour wasn’t good. His anger was directed at us. That’s why he’s the only player I didn’t write to [when I left].

"For sure he is hurting or displeased with me and I understand that. He thinks we have done the wrong thing," he continued.

However, on Monday morning, reports of a rift were put to bed as Casillas took to his Twitter account to share an image of the two together at the headquarters Royal Spanish Football Federation in Madrid.

According to the betting, the next Spain manager is likely to be either Jose Antonio Camacho or Joaquin Caparros, who will be tasked with bringing through some new Spanish talent and evolving their tiki-taka style ahead of the World Cup in 2018.
