Visiting the school that made Paul O'Connell

We travel to the Model School in Limerick, to hear about the early years of Ireland's captain

Newstalk Lunchtime came to us from Dublin Airport today as Jonathan Healy soaked up the atmosphere of the crowd travelling to Wales for Ireland’s opening game of the Rugby World Cup.

But before that, Jonathan Healy travelled to Limerick, to visit Paul O’ Connell’s old primary school, the Model School on O’Connell Avenue.

Jonathan spoke with the teachers who knew the boy who would go on to become the national hero, and the children at the school now, who will be watching Ireland’s push for the Webb Ellis Cup with the added emotional hook of watching a local hero leading the team out.
