Vroum Vroum Mag and Limini set for battle in Mares' Hurdle

Vroum Vroum Mag is set for a showdown with stablemate Limini for this Tuesday's Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Vroum Vroum Mag won the race last year but will be without the services of Ruby Walsh and will instead race with jockey Paul Townend.

Both Mag and Lamini are trained by Willie Mullins, with the former having held a total of five festival entries, including a total of three championship contests.

The pair will be one of the stories of the opening day of racing at Cheltenham and will also compete against Apple's Jade among a final field of 18.

Last week owner Rich Ricci last week suggested he might run the two star mares against each other and with Walsh on board Limini is favoured in the betting at a best-priced 13-8, while Vroum Vroum Mag can be backed at 11-4.

The Mares' Hurdle has become one of the races of the week as Apple's Jade, who has beaten Vroum Vroum Mag and finished second to Limini this season, brings multiple Grade 1-winning form to the table.

Vroum Vroum Mag is the only absentee from the same day's Stan James Champion Hurdle after a field of 12, including Yanworth and Buveur D'Air, was declared.
