Under the stewarship of Mick McCarthy, Ireland were beaten 2-0 by Argentina in Keane's home debut
They say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
The proverb is certainly applicable to Ireland's record goalscorer, Robbie Keane, as today is 18 years to the day that he made his senior international debut at the tender age of 17.
After replacing Alan Maybury against the Czech Republic, he also featured against Argentina in April of 1998 and starred in his first post match interview.
Fresh faced and full of enthusiasm, here's Keane after the game alongside Mick McCarthy and there's even a bit of Steve Staunton thrown in for good measure.
