"Accrington Stanley? Who are they?"

Those words from the classic British milk advert from the 1980s are still brought up to this day.

And given how embedded it is in popular culture, the original advert has got a makeover.

Almost 30 years on, the same actor (now aged 36) from the original ad has reappeared for a new version that plays on the old one almost word for word except that instead of milk, the drink is a milk-based vodka.

It's not the only memorable football-related advert that stirs in the memory.

Jason McAteer was sought after for the adverts not just because of his flowing locks but because "he gives it his all" as the tagline says...

David Ginola also had plenty of hair on his head which resulted in endorsement and advert work with L'Oreal.

But he also did coffee related stuff with Carte Noir...

Given how football's guardians have discovered that it can be quite lucrative financially, adverts abound around World Cup time.

This Adidas one from the 1990s featured some big name of the era like David Beckham...

A personal favourite is this Coca Cola one thanks to the catchy Blondie tune 'Atomic' but also because it reminds me that the World Cup is around the corner...

And finally, the classic of the genre featuring Eric Cantona in the Nike Cage...
