The Croatia captain lost his father earlier this week
Darijo Srna mourned the loss of his father this week, but somehow found the strength and courage to line-out for Croatia today during their 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic.
The Croatia captain travelled to his father's funeral, who died during Croatia’s 1-0 win against Turkey.
During the anthems the emotion was evident.
"It is a very difficult moment for me and my family and after talking to them, I decided to return to France," Srna said yesterday.
"Everybody knows that my father's last wish was for me to play and win as much as possible with the Croatian national team."
Srna added: "It was my father's wish. Everything that he did in his life was for me to win matches with the Croatian football team."
