Michael Conlan recorded his second win as a professional fighter with a comfortable performance against Mexican opponent Alfredo Chanez in Chicago.

It was elementary stuff for Conlan from the outset, landing his first knockdown of the night at around the halfway mark of the opening round.

The Belfast fighter saw his opponent go to the canvas twice more in the fight, before succumbing to Conlan's powerful shots in the third round, in front of around 5,000 fans at the UIC Pavilion.

Chanez (4-4) appeared to be in trouble from the first knockdown, as he struggled to regain his footing following an early burst of hits from Conlan.

There was little relief for the Mexican after the restart, as Conlan ushered him over to the ropes where he dropped some punishing uppercuts and body shots to continue his dominance.

Chanez appeared to be putting up a fight in the second round, before slumping to the floor claiming a low blow from the Irish man coming into the final minute.

No disciplinary action was taken against Conlan and he cruised to the end of the round.

Conlan continued to thrive in the third round, and he finished the contest with a decisive knockdown in the final seconds.

Chanez got back to his feet within the 10 seconds, but the referee could see he was gassed, and ended the fight.
