Five time major winner Phil Mickelson is someone who knows a thing or two about conquering Augusta.

The US golfer has won The Masters on three occasions, as well as being quite an interesting person of the golf course according to Ireland's own three time major winner Padraig Harrington.

Mickelson has already teed off in his opening round at the 2017 Masters and it hasn't taken him long to make a splash.

No, not the type of splash that results in a water hazard but an early eagle.

He picked up two shots on the Par 5 2nd hole:

However, bogeys on the 5th and 6th have stalled his progress somewhat, although Mickelson still remains below par for the day.

Mickelson isn't the only player to manage an eagle on the second.

Germany's Martin Kaymer achieved the same feat, having bogeyed the first:

The first action continues at Augusta, with World No 1 Dustin Johnson now expected to tee off as normal after a serious fall last night appeared to put the in form golfer's chances of taking part in jeopardy.
