Wagner will contact Klopp over Ward future

There is no other game in world football that is worth more money than The Championship Play-Off Final.

The win for Huddersfield was the biggest day in their club's modern history, but it’s fair to say they did it the hard way - winning both the semi final and final in a penalty shoot. The Huddersfield goalkeeper Danny Ward, who is on loan from Liverpool, played a huge part in their success. He saved two penalties in the semi-final shootout and the last crucial penalty in the final.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner says that he will call Jurgen Klopp at some point in relation to the future of Danny Ward:

I need to take a few weeks to get my head around it," Wagner told Sky Sports after the win. "I will have a lot of phone calls to make. I will call Jurgen, but not just to talk about Danny."

Ward joined Liverpool in 2012 making only two appearances in three years before joining Morecambe on loan. Soon after he joined Scottish side Aberdeen where he made 21 appearances. Finally in 2016 he joined Huddersfield and has played 43 times for them in total. He has also earned three caps for Wales. Ward has played a huge role in getting Huddersfield to the Premier League.

Over the last number of years Liverpool have had huge problems defensively and a major cause of this was down to their goalkeeper Simon Mignolet not performing at a consistent level.

The club then decided to buy 22=year-old Loris Karius for £5m from German club Mainz. Similar to Mignolet, Karius did not set the world on fire in his first season and didn't do much to impress the boss.

With the form that Ward has shown throughout this season is it possible that he could be called back to Anfield to be giving the number 1 jersey at some point? This is a decision that Klopp and Wagner will be discussing over the next few weeks.
