Ireland get back to winning ways with victory over Italy
Ireland's women were 14-3 winners in front of a home crowd in Dublin17:00 Sunday 13 March 2016, 17:00 13 Mar 2016
Ireland welcomed Italy to Dublin in the Six Nations on Sunday afternoon as they looked to bounce back from defeats to France and England in recent weeks.
Head coach Tom Tierney made a number of changes to reinvigorate his side, including bringing in a number of uncapped players.
The changes did have the desired effect as, despite some early pressure from Italy, Ireland found their rhythm and started to inch their way in front on the scoreboard.
Lindsay Peat got over the line for her first international try shortly before the half-time break to put Ireland 7-3 ahead, with Niamh Briggs slotting over the conversion.
With plenty of experience and strength to call from the bench, Tierney's side got on top in the second half and stamped their authority on the game with Paula Fitzpatrick touching down too off a maul after the hour mark.
