Watford linked with move for Ireland-eligible goalscorer Scott Hogan

Premier League side Watford have been linked with a €10 million move for Brentford's Ireland eligible striker Scott Hogan.

The English born 24 year old, who is eligible for the Republic of Ireland national team through his grandparents, has netted 14 goals in 25 games in the English Championship so far this season.

That puts him joint-third on the Championship top scorers' list behind Newcastle's Dwight Gayle (19 goals) and Brighton's Glenn Murray (15 goals).

The striker was called up to the Ireland under 21 squad in February 2014 but was unable to feature due to club commitments.

The Guardian have also suggested that there is interest from West Ham, while Sky Sports have claimed interest from outside British football with the German Bundesliga's newly promoted high flyers RB Leipzig linked with a move.

Watford have struggled for goals this season with Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo in particular enduring an off season. Coming off the back of a campaign where he scored 17 goals in all competitions, this season Ighalo has only two in all competitions including just one in the Premier League.

Midfielder Etienne Capoue is their top scorer this season with five, one clear of club captain Troy Deeney.
