West Brom install 96 red seats in Hillsborough tribute ahead of Liverpool game

West Brom have revealed plans to pay tribute to the 96 Liverpool fans that died as a result of the Hillsborough tragedy.

The two teams play on Sunday afternoon, and West Brom have replaced 96 seats in the away end with red seats that will be unused during the game. All of the seats will have a name on them of one of the fans who died.

Installing the red seats, is one part of a tribute the club will pay to those who died. A floral tribute will be laid on front of the Liverpool fans before the game by West Brom's captain Darren Fletcher and Rickie Lambert. Lambert is a Liverpool native, and previously played for the club.

West Brom's chairman Jeremy Peace has written about the gesture in Sunday's programme: "Albion and Liverpool have a rivalry which dates back to 1894 since when we have contested nearly 150 games. For a few moments on Sunday we will be as one and remember the context Hillsborough makes of our daily struggles."

Liverpool currently lie in eighth place and are in the Europa League final next week. West Brom have not won a league game since March and are in 14th place.

Whatever happens on Sunday, the game will be remembered for what happens before the game, with a terrific gesture.
