West Ham player's loan contract terminated... After 95 minutes

West Ham United striker Elliot Lee’s loan spell at Southend United has lasted just 95 minutes.

The 19 year-old tore a hamstring in his first training session with the League Two side, immediately after signing his contract at the club.

"The paperwork was done at 9:30 on Friday morning” Southend boss Phil Brown told the BBC.

"We started the session at 10:30 - and at five past 11 he pulled up with a hamstring injury."

Lee is the son of former England player Rob Lee, making two appearances as a substitute for West Ham and played four matches during a loan spell with Colchester last year, scoring one goal.

His frustration was evident on Twitter last night:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>What a S#*t year! Very few highs and too many lows.. Gutted to be injured until the new year. Due some luck soon..😔 <a href="http://t.co/8dHGf2UYna">pic.twitter.com/8dHGf2UYna</a></p>&mdash; Elliot Lee (@ElliotLee9) <a href="https://twitter.com/ElliotLee9/status/530063948138442752">November 5, 2014</a></blockquote>

However, all is not lost for any hopes he may have of making a name for himself at Southend.

"We've mutually agreed to cancel the loan. But come January or February, it is certainly one we would revisit" said Brown.
