Westmeath buzzing ahead of their quarter-final tie against Galway

Westmeath Under-21 goalscoring hero Warren Casserly is on the bench for the senior side's tie with Galway in the Leinster Hurling Championship quarter-final but the county are 'buzzing' coming into their tie with the Tribesmen and Casserly knows it has been a massive month for Westmeath hurling.

Their under-21 side recorded one of the most unlikely victories over Kilkenny last month as they beat the Cats 1-11 to 0-12 and Casserly says he is looking forward to the chance to play against the bigger sides in the coming weeks.

"It's been unreal like, As Dara McCormack said the other night, he's never been able to hurl against the top teams like Galways and Kilkennys and these and that's what we have to relish now and go into these games with our heads held high and just give it the best shot we can."

Liam Varley says the the players are relishing the chance to face Galway in Mullingar on Sunday and that confidence is high in the camp.

"Confidence is high in the group at the minute and lads are hurling well, we were training this morning and it went well enough as well, lads are buzzing around and just looking forward to the game and excited to play hurling. These are the days you want to be playing hurling.

Westmeath have beaten Carlow, Kerry and Offaly on the way to their quarter-final game against Galway on Sunday in Cusack Park, Mullingar.
