"While everyone is making Dundalk favourites - and rightly so - we're capable of putting in a big performance"

Cork City manager John Caulfield is expecting a close scoreline when his side take on league champions Dundalk in Sunday's FAI Cup final.

Speaking to Off The Ball ahead of the fixture, Caulfield said he feels the teams are more closely-matched than last season.

"From our point of view, the last two games have been draws and on both occasions, we've been behind and we've come back. And the last occasion we were two down and came back to 2-2," he said.

"But I think the gap between last year and this year between the two of us is much closer. That's why I think the game will be much tighter and while I expect there to be a few goals, I don't think it's going to be anything crazy like 4-3 or anything like that. I think it will be a close game. But the most important thing for us is that we must be tuned in and play to the best of our ability and if we do, I believe we'll win. Certainly if a number of players don't play well, then you've no chance."

He also added: "So, while everyone is making Dundalk favourites - and rightly so - at the same time we're capable of putting in a big performance."
