Hollywood actor Will Ferrell has been announced as one of the co-owners for the latest side to join the MLS.

Los Angeles FC will compete for the first time in the league in 2018. They replace Chivas-USA as the second team in Los Angeles. Chivas-USA left the league in 2014 to leave LA Galaxy as the only team in the city.

Ferrell joins a large group of owners of the team that includes Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan, LA Lakers legend Magic Johnston and two-time World Cup winner Mia Hamm.

Speaking at the launch of the team's new crest, Ferrell claimed that; "This is not a joke. I'm actually a member of this fine ownership group and it's very exciting."

The 48-year-old actor is known for his love of the game. He has played in numerous charity matches and starred as a coach in the film "Kicking and Screaming".

The team will play in a custom built 22,000 seater stadium in Los Angeles.
