Will Swansea be able to convince Marcelo Bielsa to come to Wales?

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins travelled to South America yesterday, as former Argentina and Chile manager Marcelo Bielsa became odds-on favourite to become the new manager of the Welsh side.

The 60-year-old has not managed since leaving Marseille after an opening day loss to Caen earlier this year. He has also impressed in Europe with Athletic Bilbao in recent years.

Tim Vickery spoke to Off the Ball last night to discuss the potential move and he is unsure if Bielsa will make the move to south Wales. The fixture list with a lack of opportunities to train the team and that fact that Garry Monk was sacked may count against Swansea in trying to lure the Argentinian.

"Huw Jenkins is in for a difficult time round the negotiating table, if it gets to that. Let's hope it happens because we will all be in for a very interesting time if he does sign on the dotted line".

Gustavo Poyet is "a safer bet" according to Vickery to take the Swansea job. Poyet "knows English football very very well and knows the wrong end of the Premier League very well from previous battles".
