Inclement weather has forced organisers to cancel rowing during today's schedule of the Rio Olympics, with wind and rain playing a big role in the decision.

The event was initially suspended but the decision was taken when it appeared there would be no let up in it was decided the event would have to be called off for the day.

Claire Lambe and Sinead Jennings were scheduled to race at approximately 1pm for their semi-final in the lightweight women’s double sculls, while brothers Paul and Gary O’Donovan were set to take to the water in the lightweight men’s double sculls shortly after.
