"You cannot play like this" - Remembering the day Donncha O'Callaghan lost his shorts

94 Ireland caps, four Lions test appearances on two separate tours, two Heineken Cups and one Grand Slam yet Donncha O'Callaghan is still remembered as the player who lost his shorts.

O'Callaghan turns 37 today and after leaving Munster last summer as their record appearance holder, the Cork native is impressing for Worcester Warriors in the English Premiership.

It is almost ten years since the memorable day in Cardiff, when O'Callaghan's shorts ripped before a lineout. Without trying to waste time a miss the next phase of play, O'Callaghan prepared for the lineout in just his underwear.

Munster flanker David Wallace did his very best not to laugh at what was on front of his eyes, before the ever-professional John Hayes got ready to lift O'Callaghan.

"Move away please. You can't play like this" were the words of French referee Christophe Berdos to O'Callaghan as he left the lineout. Somehow he got the shorts on quickly and returned in time of the lineout.

As with many memorable stories, the ending was far from perfect. O'Callaghan knocked on from Frankie Sheahan's throw before landing awkwardly on the ground.

Munster went on to win the game 22-12 in Cardiff Arms Park against the Blues. Declan Kidney's side would lose in the quarter finals to the Scarlets in Llanelli.
