"You guys are unbelievable" - Novak Djokovic gets involved in tense exchange with a journalist

Novak Djokovic brushed off any questions regarding his on-court temperament during a tense exchange with a journalist this afternoon in London.

The Serb defeated Austrian Dominic Thiem 6-7, 6-0, 6-2 at the O2 Arena on Monday as part of the ATP season-ending event, and struck a ball into the crowd during the match.

Djokovic has had a difficult time in recent weeks, taking into consideration his loss of the world number one spot to long-time rival Andy Murray and recently exhibited this frustration during a match at the Shanghai Masters where he broke his racket and ripped his shirt in frustration.

At Monday's press conference, Djokovic was asked whether or not behavior of this nature could "cost him dearly," citing that the ball could have caused an injury to a spectator.

"You guys are unbelievable," he replied to the question. The reporter responded: "Why is it unbelievable?"

Djokovic claimed that journalists are "always picking these kind of things" and added: "I keep doing these things? Why don’t you get suspended then? I’m still not suspended, so if I’m not close, I’m not close."

Asked whether or not the ball could have hit a spectator he replied: "It could have been, yes. It could have snowed in the O2 Arena, as well, but it didn’t."

Djokovic has had to endure a difficult season following his defeat at Wimbledon, claiming that he had to deal with some "off-court issues", injuries and the rise of Murray to the top of the pile.

Although he was dethroned after more than two years at the top of the world tennis rankings, the Serb can regain top spot should he win all his games this week.
