"You really know how to control a match, buddy" - Nick Kyrgios courts controversy at Australian Open

Nick Kyrgios has once again made headlines for his on-court temperament after a heated exchange with an umpire at the Australian Open.

The Canberra native complained to match officials after alleging that music was playing during his third round defeat to Tomas Berdych in Melbourne today.

The controversial figure was beaten in four sets — 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 — and argued vociferously with umpire James Keothavong.

“Mate, are you OK?” Kyrgios asked, “There’s music playing in the crowd while we are playing. I’ve told you seven times. Mate!

”Am I hearing things? Am I hearing things? Mate, it’s a circus! So there’s music allowed to be played? Did you hear something? So why did you not tell them to turn it off? Because you have a mic right there!”

The Australian continued his outburst and criticised Keothavong for not putting a stop to the music.

“You really know how to control a match, buddy,” he shouted. “There’s guys throwing balls back into the crowd. And you have music playing while we’re playing. Good control. It’s a f***ing joke.”

Kyrgios had previously made headlines for making comments about fellow professional Stanislas Warinka's girlfriend and a foul-mouthed outburst at the Japan Open.

The Czech sixth seed advances to the last 16 for the sixth consecutive Grand Slam where he will face Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut.
