'Humbled' Zach Johnson keeps his composure to take Open crown

American Zach Johnson has won The Open at St Andrews.

He needed a play-off to beat Louis Oosthuizen and Australian Marc Leishman - after the trio all finished level on 15-under-par.

It is Johnson's second "major" title, after winning the Masters in 2007.

Speaking after clinching victory, he described how special it was to have his name etched on the historic Claret Jug along with some of golf's most famous names.

"It's the who's who in the game, it's the guys that pave the way, it's the guys who are historic in sport. So I'm humbled, I'm honoured and it's still beyond surreal. I guess when you have a great team, great things can happen," he said.

Johnson produced the better golf during the play-off, carding birdies on two of the four holes to beat Oosthuizen, who missed a putt on the 18th to extend the playoff.

Spieth was happy with his performance during the Championship, having won majors at the Masters and US Open already in 2015.

"The way that I played this week, especially today, would have won the US Open by more than just a shot. I didn't play well there. It's just that's the kind of golf that was played by the field this week," he said.

Earlier in the final round, Irish amateur Paul Dunne and three-time major winner Padraig Harrington had slipped from contention, while two-time major champion Jordan Spieth and Australia's Jason Day were within a shot of reaching the playoff.

Off The Ball and Golf Weekly presenter Joe Molloy was at St Andrews throughout the weekend's action and he got the reaction to all today's drama and the five days from golf writer Lawrence Donegan and the BBC's Tom English:
