Zahabi wants McGregor or Bisping for GSP's return

Tristar gym's head coach Firas Zahabi wants an epic fight for the return of George St. Pierre to the octagon.

Speaking on the MMAHour to Ariel Helwani, Zahabi said: “My ideal scenario, I don’t know if it’s still up for grabs, but I was really happy when there was a buzzing of Bisping or McGregor, I thought those two would be two epic fights.

"One, he would go a little lower; one, he would go a little higher. But those are really, really intriguing fights. Of course, Tyron Woodley, he’s the champion and et cetera, but he has his fight with ‘Wonderboy’. And if ‘Wonderboy’ wins, then they’ll have a trilogy. And of course we don’t want to fight with ‘Wonderboy,’ we go way back together.

“So I think the welterweight title is not really something he is thinking about right now because of the current landscape, but there is always the 185-pound belt. And of course, McGregor is such a mega-star that if you put those two on a main event, I don’t think that anybody in the world wouldn’t watch that.

"I think that even non-MMA fans would watch that. But again, I don’t do the match-ups, I don’t do the managing, I’m just talking as a trainer," he added.

GSP hasn't fought since winning a controversial decision win over Johnny Hendricks back in 2013. The American has also thrown his name in the hat to face his former foe and speaking at the post fight press conference after beating Hector Lombard at the weekend, he said: “Georges might be coming back and I just say sorry for the Canadians. I’m going to have to beat his face in.

"Definitely if he comes to 185 cause that’s a fight I’ve been really looking forward and now that I’ve got a win on my belt at 185, he’s the newcomer at 185, supposedly, I think he said he might come to 185 cause he wants to fight Bisping," he added.
