Zlatan Ibrahimovic suspended for three games

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss three Manchester United games after admitting to a violent conduct charge.

The striker was caught on camera catching Bournemouth's Tyrone Mings with his elbow during United's 1-1 draw with Eddie Howe's side at Old Trafford.

The defender's also been charged by the FA - after allegedly standing on Ibrahimovic's head in a separate incident in the same Premier League match.

"Zlatan Ibrahimovic will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of violent conduct and accepted the standard penalty," the FA said in a statement today.

"It follows an incident in or around the 44th minute of the game between Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth on Saturday (4 March 2017).

"The misconduct was not seen by the match officials at the time but caught on video."

The charge means he will miss United's FA Cup tie at Chelsea, followed by the Premier League matches against Middlesbrough and West Brom.

Ibrahimovic is United's leading goalscorer and remains eligible for their Europa League ties with Russian side FC Rostov.

He has until six o'clock tonight to respond.
