Andy Reid reacts to the "terrible spectacle" between Ireland and Georgia

Andy Reid believes Ireland did not deserve to beat Georgia in their 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium.

Seamus Coleman's second half goal earned a narrow 1-0 victory to give Martin O'Neill's side their first win of the campaign and move them onto four points along with rivals Serbia, Austria and Wales.

But like many observers, ex-Ireland midfielder Reid was not impressed by the performance as he explained to Off The Ball.

"All in all it was a terrible spectacle really. The only thing to cheer about was the goal. But we've won the game and got three points," he said, adding that the best way to beat teams like Georgia is to keep the ball, which Ireland struggled to do.

"Georgia were the better side for probably most of the game if we're being honest about it. Georgia were very, very unlucky not to get a goal towards the end of the first half. The worrying thing at that stage of the game for me was that it wasn't just that they broke away and had a chance and nearly scored. That was coming. They'd been playing well, they'd been stringing together passes, getting crosses into the box and they nearly scored.

"If we had gone in 1-0 down at half-time, nobody could have had any complaints whatsoever."
