While Meath may have harboured hopes of a Leinster final this summer, it's Kildare who are going to be taking part in that decider next month after a clear win in their semi final clash on Saturday.

Former Meath footballer Anthony Moyles shared his thoughts on his countymen's downfall as he and ex-Tyrone footballer Enda McGinley reviewed the weekend's action, including a Connacht and Ulster semi final.

For Moyles, Meath's first half performance was abject.

"They had an absolutely shocking first half. The first half was completely inept. They never got a hand on a Kildare man and they allowed their two full backs to be absolutely and completely be exposed," he said.

Moyles also picked out another issue that helped contribute to defeat.

"They were trying to do this idea where a half back or maybe a midfielder would actually drop as the play was developing. If you watch the goal, Shane McEntee is trying to get back. But unfortunately for him, he either didn't get back quick enough or he only got back when he saw the ball being kicked. And the ball was such a good ball and he caught it up above Tobin and he was down and landed on the ground before McEntee could get there.

"And if you watch a lot of the scores, especially a lot of the scores in the first half, Meath men were turning and chasing back. So there was nothing coming at them from front. Everything was 'oh, oh' we have to turn and chase back. That is a real sign then of you've just been carved open or a long ball has gone into space which has been won and now you're chasing back towards your own goal."

Off The Ball's Dave McIntyre was at Hyde Park as Roscommon defeated Leitrim decisively which he recounted on the Newsround:
