What type of threat does Rafael dos Anjos pose for Conor McGregor?

While there was the sideshow of whether Conor McGregor's face would end up on a €1 coin today, the main focus for the UFC featherweight champion is March 5th.

Last night, the UFC confirmed that McGregor will have the opportunity to try and become a UFC champ at two weight grades when he takes on lightweight Rafael dos Anjos.

We've been learning about the current UFC lightweight belt holder. But how does he match up against McGregor who has seen off every challenge to take the title at featherweight level?

"What he has done throughout his UFC tenure has been pretty amazing," MMA journalist Ariel Helwani told Off The Ball of Dos Anjos, who has overcome an inauspicious start to his UFC career before reaching the pinnacle of becoming a champ almost overnight.

"He's turned into an all-round fighter, not just a ju-jitsu fighter and amazing striker."

Helwani does not think McGregor has to alter anything about his own style or approach when he comes into this fight, highlighting that "Conor plays by his own rules", describing the Dubliner's punches as "like a sniper" with every punch having a "meaning".

Anthony Pettis, the man he took the lightweight title from last March, has questioned how Dos Anjos rose so quickly, although as Helwani says, "we have to give him the benefit of the doubt" as he has not failed any tests as the UFC moves into a more stringent anti-doping era.
