David Brady: Galway have an opportunity to create a major, major upset against Kerry

On Sunday, we'll all be treated to an All Ireland quarter final double header.

Kerry and Galway will do battle at 2pm and that will be followed by an all-Connacht clash between Mayo and Roscommon with both the winners of both fixtures heading into a semi final head to head on August 20th.

Former Mayo midfielder David Brady and ex-Roscommon counterpart Karol Mannion joined Off The Ball's Eoin Sheahan to look ahead to both games.

Brady is giving Galway a chance of giving favourites Kerry a real scare - and maybe even more.

"Tomorrow will be the proof whether Kerry are the real contenders - and they are - but again momentum and coming in off the back of a very, very positive display against Donegal - the game was over at half time - I think Galway have an opportunity to create a major, major upset," he said.

"Since the Munster final, it seems a long time ago, but in terms of weeks it's a long time with not having a competitive game.

"But I do think Galway have an opportunity to start off the game the same way they finished off last week and there's a positivity there. The only problem with Galway is a mental problem because you can't transform yourself as a player or a footballer from what happened in the Connacht final to what happened last Saturday."

Brady also predicted that Mayo would edge a hard-fought battle against Roscommon, while Mannion also feels that Mayo will benefit from the past battles in this season's Championship at crunch time.

Brady also talked about Aidan O'Shea's evolution for Mayo in the Championship this season.

"He's a breathe of fresh air because he hasn't had the struggle of the league. He didn't play one game from the 1st of October last year to the end of April," he said, before touching on another significant change.

"Do you know what he's doing? He's not taking the hits and the abuse. He's being a lot more clever in his game and he's not taking it into the tackle. He's linking a lot more, he's getting on balls. The Mark in GAA has created a whole new dynamic because it's suited the likes of the big midfielders and the big centre-forwards like Aidan O'Shea. From that you create a platform."

He also predicted that the Mayo team named for the Roscommon won't be the same one that lines out at throw-in time.
