As scrutiny surrounds Team Sky, David Walsh shares his view on the future of Dave Brailsford

On Monday in front of a parliamentary select committee, Team Sky general manager David Brailsford addressed the subject of the package delivered to Bradley Wiggins' doctor in 2011, stating that it was a decongestant called Fluimucil that is not subject to any anti-doping rules.

The Sunday Times chief sportswriter David Walsh joined Off The Ball to discuss what came out of the select committee which saw Brailsford and Shane Sutton, the former technical director of British Cycling, facing questions.

"This whole story has left a stain on Team Sky that I don't see disappearing anytime soon," said Walsh.

"The sensational week for me was in September when Fancy Bears leaks to show Bradley Wiggins had had three TUEs (therapeutic use exemption) for Triamcinolone before his three biggest races in 2011, 2012 and 2013."

The Daily Mail's Matt Lawton spoke to Off The Ball on Monday about the current situation at Team Sky.

Walsh also gave his take on Brailsford's future with Team Sky in the wake of recent months and feels he should take ultimate responsibility, although he does not expect him to leave the team.

Commenting that "from my point of view, if Team Sky were serious about trying to rebuild their credibility - because I feel they've lost that", Walsh feels that one of the next steps is "to say to Dave, 'sorry, Dave, we've got to move ahead without you' and I believe that's what should happen. But I don't think it's going to happen," he said.

Walsh also stated his belief that reigning three time Tour de France champion Chris Froome has been riding clean.

"I've always believed Froome is clean," he said, adding that the rider has been critical of his own team regarding the recent TUE matter.
