Felipe Contepomi gives us his Ireland vs Argentina prediction

Given how often Argentina have faced us, many of the Pumas from the last two decades will have made an intimate acquaintance with their Irish counterparts on the pitch.

None more so than Felipe Contempomi, who of course spent years playing for Leinster to great acclaim.

As Ireland and Argentina prepare for another battle this weekend, Contepomi joined ex-Leinster team-mate Brian O'Driscoll on the line to preview the Aviva Stadium clash.

Thoughts did turn to some of the heated battles between both nations during the late 90s and noughties.

"I think those niggles are basically, the way I see it, is because we are two teams that are very similar in the way we live rugby or live our national team and when two passionate teams come against each other, you'll always have those niggles," said the former Argentina great.

"But for me, we always admire the Irish team. When you go into a game against an Irish team, it's like a battle because they're so, so proud of their team, the same way that we are of our team."

And as for his prediction for the upcoming game, he said: "If I think with my head, Ireland are the favourites and that's normal to say that. You're in a great moment. But at the same time, we've never won in Ireland and there's always a first time and you always dream of that first time of beating Ireland in Ireland. But if I were to put my money on it, I would say Ireland."
