Last night, Pat Nevin gave his take on some of the Premier League Top 6's chances of coming out on top in the upcoming title race including Chelsea, Tottenham and the Manchester clubs.
Tonight, Liverpool legend Graeme Souness joined us on Off The Ball to look ahead to his former club's chances of not just retaining the Top Four place they managed last term but potentially pushing on further.
One of the subplots is the possibility that Philippe Coutinho could depart for Barcelona for a fee in the €100 million bracket and Souness thinks that Liverpool should take the money if a bid of that size comes in, although he feels the "timing stinks".
"I would snap their hand off for that sort of money, personally," he said.
"Yeah, he's a fabulous little player but he's not the difference for them winning trophies or not winning trophies because they're not doing that."
Adding that he won't win you game after game in the way that Luis Suarez did three years ago, Souness continued: "I think €100 million plus, I'd snap your hand off."
But he acknowledged that, "Right now, the timing absolutely stinks for Liverpool".
On the best Liverpool could hope for, he added, "I would be asking for another year" of service from Coutinho.
Souness also discussed the situation at Arsenal and is worried for Arsene Wenger if the Gunners make a poor start and the fans' misgivings grow again.
"I'm not too sure if those two players are going to make them into genuine title challengers," he said of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac who are the new additions.
Souness also touched on the possibility that some day, iconic stadiums like Anfield and Old Trafford could be open to naming rights deals and wouldn't be surprised if that were to occur in future with clubs likely to be open to diversifying their revenue streams.
