It came as something of a surprise this morning but it certainly is reality as ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville takes the reins of La Liga club Valencia.
Based on his Monday Night Football analysis exploits, his footballing ideas are rightly admired but is he ready for a challenge in a different football culture then he has been used to?
Off The Ball's European football correspondent Graham Hunter was on tonight's show to react to today's news and he believes Neville has all the credentials to make a success of it and is a good fit.
"In my view, Gary Neville is the perfect football man for that club - if he spoke Spanish," he said.
"I don't think there's any question [that] he can teach the players to do things they weren't doing under Nuno; take a group of footballers who were often transformed into the youngest XI in La Liga last season and teach them things via his vision, his experience, his enthusiasm; teach them to hold their confidence in front of a fiercely critical home support, who are rabidly ecstatic when things are going well and like dogs of war, nipping at the heels of their own footballers when things aren't going perfectly.
"Can he do that? I back Valencia to make up the pretty sizable points gap and finish third this season and no worse than second next season? That's how much I think of Gary Neville."
