'McGregor's come too far to allow himself to slip up'

Boston is currently awash with Irish fans as Conor McGregor fever hits the US.

'The Notorious' and fellow Irish UFC contender Cathal Pendred both have fights in the city this weekend.

Four-time MMA journalist of the year, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com joined us on the line from Boston tonight to preview the action and told us that the vibes from the McGregor camp are very positive as he prepares to take on Dennis Siver.

"The big thing with Conor has always been the weight cut but I was told that the cut is going easier than ever. He looks to be in phenomenal shape," said Helwani, who added that UFC president Dana White showed up for his open workout.

He also detailed just how much of an impact McGregor is having on the collective consciousness Stateside as the anticipation builds, highlighting how Siver has barely appeared in pre-fight ads in comparison.

But is there even the faintest chance of a shock result. Helwani thinks that possibility is very remote.

"If he slips up, it's because he's going to lose to a better man. But it's not because he's going to look past Dennis Siver. He's come too far to allow something like that to happen in my opinion," said Helwani, who explains that Siver will have to make it a "dirty fight" and more drawn out to have any chance against McGregor.

He also added that McGregor brought up Siver's past failed drugs test as a means of saying "you can put anything you want in your body but I'm still going to beat you because I'm that much better than you".
