'It was as if Lallana didn't really want to be out there' - Houghton

Former Ireland midfielder Ray Houghton believes Adam Lallana did not look like he wanted to be at St Mary's as Liverpool beat Southampton.

Lallana, who has been open about the fallout from his move from the Saints to Liverpool, was a peripheral figure as the Reds won 2-0 to close in on a Top Four place.

Houghton was at St Mary's as co-commentator for Off The Ball told us: "There were a couple of ex-Southampton players coming back to their old club in [Dejan] Lovren and Lallana. They looked edgy and very nervous, and really didn't get into. Lovren improved as the game went on but Lallana to me was rather subdued. It was as if he didn't really want to be out there."

Houghton also felt that Southampton were unlucky with some refereeing decisions, but also felt the Saints lacked the cutting edge to really threaten Liverpool.

He also gave his take on a "workman-like" performance as Arsenal picked up a hard-fought win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
