Iain Henderson on the moment Ireland's World Cup exit really hit home

Iain Henderson has reflected on the moment that it really hit home that Ireland's Rugby World Cup was well and truly over.

Joe Schmidt's side were comprehensively beaten in the quarter-finals but it the moment the exit sunk in was on the team bus following the game, Henderson told Off The Ball's Nathan Murphy.

"We were en route, leaving the Millennium [Stadium] out to the bus and what sunk home with a lot of people, our logistics manager said to us 'your bags need to be down in the bus for getting shipped back home'. When people heard that, [there was] a sinking feeling in everyone's stomach, thinking 'that's us going home now,'" he said.

Looking back on the whole tournament, he also explained what he learned from international colleagues like departing captain Paul O'Connell in terms of preparation, and bringing that back into the Ulster set-up.

He also confirmed that he should be back to full fitness in the next few weeks.
