John Giles reveals the Antonio Conte qualities that have been impressing most at Chelsea

John Giles feels defence has been the platform that has aided Chelsea's dramatic turnaround and feels that's the factor that separates the Blues from their Premier League rivals.

Antonio Conte's switch to a 3-4-3 has seen the London side's goals conceded column dry up and more importantly drive them to the very top of the table where they sit six points clear of second placed Arsenal.

Speaking on Off The Ball, John revealed how impressed he is by what Conte has done with the team.

"If you look at Conte, he hasn't said a word out of place about any of his players - or the opposition," he said.

"He's just got on with his own job. But he's done it very, very well. That's only one part of management. The other is to try and get it right on the pitch and you do that on the practice ground, you make changes in the defence at the start of the season and he did it very, very quickly and did it well."

John also pointed out that the back-line's organisation is what separates them from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and others.

"They're well organised. I always think the teams that are well organised, they concede less goals when you see them really well organised. I think they've lost maybe two goals in the last nine matches," he said.

"I think that's your starting point if you get it right at the back. If you look at the other teams, I don't think Mourinho's got it right at the back, Guardiola certainly hasn't got it right at the back, Klopp certainly hasn't got it right at the back. So that's why I think there is a consistency about Chelsea that the other teams don't have because Klopp certainly doesn't concentrate on defence and neither does Guardiola and you see now that they pay the price."
