Keith Wood: Simon Zebo "showed enough" to be picked again this weekend

Keith Wood believes Simon Zebo "showed enough" against Wales at 15 to be picked again when Ireland take on France in this weekend's Six Nations clash.

The Munster player, who often plays on the wing, started at full-back against Wales but his performance was judged as one with its fair share of highs and lows.

But with regular full-back Rob Kearney returning, it could mean Zebo cedes the position and potentially goes back to the wing.

"I think it's great to have a strike-runner at 15. I think at times he loses concentration a little bit. He's almost better with no time than he is with too much time. But he has the ability to ghost past people which is very interesting. When he goes on the runs, you'll need someone to run a positive line and somebody to run a negative line," said Keith of Zebo on Off The Ball tonight alongside The Irish Times' Gerry Thornley, before answering Ger's question about whether he would pick the player this weekend.

"I would actually. I think he showed enough the other today. If we're going to try to progress, we need to have the ability to have a bit more of a cut from 15 and he is an elusive runner."

But he also believes that current Ireland centre Jared Payne is "the form full-back" and that is his best position.

Keith also expects more from France who edged out Italy, while he also reacted to Italy No 8 Sergio Parisse channelling his inner Keith Wood by attempting a drop goal, saying he "wouldn't blame the" player and added that "somebody had to do it".
