Keith Wood: Over-reliance on Johnny Sexton is an "Achilles heel" for Leinster and Ireland

Keith Wood feels Leinster and Ireland's over-reliance on Jonathan Sexton is an "Achilles heel".

The former Ireland captain and The Irish Times' Gerry Thornley were on Off The Ball to reflect on a weekend of interpro derbies.

Touching on the topic of variety in attack in rugby, Keith spoke of the impact of opposition teams targeting Sexton.

"I think the reliance on Johnny Sexton, for me, is an Achilles heel in Leinster's rugby and Ireland's rugby because we know he's going to be targeted. He wasn't particularly targeted at the weekend but we know he is and we're pretty much saying 'well yeah, we will run every single thing through this guy' and if anything happens we're in trouble," he said.

Keith and Gerry also talked about ways to improve the Guinness Pro 12 to rejuvenate the competition, as well as looking ahead to Connacht's Challenge Cup clash against Bernard Jackman's Grenoble this weekend.
