Wildebeests vs a crocodile: Kenny Cunningham recalls a football motivational video

Recently, English non league football side Billericary Town took pre-match motivation to another pitch in the musical sense.

The club, which has former Tottenham and Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara and ex-Liverpool and England left back Paul Konchesky on their books, sang R Kelly tune 'The World's Greatest' before they went out and defeated Tonbridge Angels 8-3 in the match itself.

Their actions have stirred the memories of former Ireland defender Kenny Cunningham who was on Off The Ball this Wednesday.

The video he was shown at one of his former clubs involved some cameos from members of the animal kingdom.

"There was a herd of wildebeest heading down a ravine and a massive crocodile comes out and pinches one of the wildebeest and drags him into the water," said Cunningham of the video.

"The initial reaction of the wildebeest is just to scatter and scarper and they go out of the picture. And you're now watching this crocodile actually devour this wildebeest. Live footage. And you're thinking to yourself, this is awful stuff, turn this thing off!

"All of a sudden, maybe 40-50 seconds later, whoosh! The wildebeest, they're back, charging down the ravine at this massive crocodile, collectively as a group trying to wrestle back this young calf - which they manage to do and spooked the crocodile. That was literally life or death."

The sporting moral of the story? Stick up for your team-mates through thick or thin. But did it work for Cunningham and the team? According to the former Ireland, Wimbledon and Sunderland centre back it did in that particular match.
