Football Supporters Federation chairman on what a fair Premier League ticket price should be

The issue of Premier League ticket prices has been bubbling under the surface for a few years, but it reached a tipping point at the weekend when a significant number of Liverpool fans staged a walkout during their club's home match with Sunderland.

With Premier League clubs set to benefit massively from a bumper TV deal, fans feel it is thus unnecessary to in turn raise ticket prices or keep them at elevated levels.

Tonight on Off The Ball, we were joined by Football Supporters Federation chairman Michael Clarke as that organisation - which has approximately half a million members - prepares to discuss the potential for a widespread walkout.

"Our position generally would be there's no need for Liverpool or any other football club to be increasing ticket price income because such is the eye-watering scale of the new media deal that really we should be seeing tickets all over the place going down [in price] and none at all going up," said Clarke, who also explained that there has been a focus on also reducing away ticket prices, while he also dismissed comparisons with the situation with concerts.

As for an acceptable price for a football match, he also cited the Twenty Is Plenty campaign.

"£20 is an appropriate price to pay for a Premier League football match," he said.
