Dublin-Kerry League Final did not impress Mickey Harte

This year's Allianz League Final between Kerry and Dublin was one of the best of recent memory.

The Munster side won the match in Croke Park, defeating the All-Ireland champions by a point. The 0-20 to 1-16 encounter was widely seen as a modern-day classic.

One man who was not impressed by what he saw though was Mickey Harte. The Tyrone manager said people had a "rose-tinted-glasses view of it all".

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Harte added that the game was not as attacking as many people thought. He cited both teams regularly using defensive formations last month.

"On several occasions I saw both Kerry and Dublin with 14 men behind the ball, but people didn't tend to talk about that."

"They could only talk about the scores that they got and about the offensive play they had. So sometimes we are contaminated by some people whose observations are always negative and emphatically negative, and have to put them aside and give them the credibility they deserve and don't give them what they're getting."

Tyrone lost their last three matches of their league campaign, but Harte is not concerned by the worrying form ahead of their Championship opener against Derry.

"I would be happy it has been a good experience for us, not the ideal experience where you'd like to be in the final and obviously love to win it, but still it's a good place to be at this stage."

Kerry and Dublin may have set the standards for what to expect this summer. Just dont say it to the three-time All-Ireland winning manager.
