Paddy Mulligan fears a Man United move would be a "walking disaster" for Paul Pogba

Ex-Ireland and Chelsea full-back Paddy Mulligan believes Manchester United should not be so keen to bring Paul Pogba to Old Trafford - especially for the £100 million fee that is being bandied about.

Like many of his France team-mates, the Juventus midfielder was underwhelming in the Euro 2016 final defeat to Portugal but appears to be closing in on a move to Jose Mourinho's United project.

"Pogba had another outrageously poor game and you hear people say 'he was playing the wrong position'. He's a footballer, so he should be able to adapt and if he doesn't see there is space in front of him and that he can create and he can get forward, then there's a distinct lack of football intelligence," he said on the Rewind podcast.

"Maybe Sir Alex [Ferguson] was right four or five years ago. Maybe he sees something that a lot of people aren't seeing. I wonder what he would be like if he was in the Premier League? I'm wondering whether the game would bypass him or not."

Pogba particularly shone at Juventus when he was in a midfield with Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, both of whom have left Turin.

"If he goes to United, who's he got behind him? Schneiderlin and Carrick? That's going to be a nightmare. That's going to be a walking disaster for him. I don't believe he's going to be able to cope."

Paddy also reflected on the Euro 2016 final and tournament as a whole.
