Pat Nevin: Mob mentality is quite scary

This weekend on Off The Ball, ex-Ireland midfielder Keith Andrews shared the extent to which fan criticism at Blackburn Rovers effected his place in the manager's plans.

But as seen with coin throwing incidents during the FA Cup fifth round ties, there can be a far more volatile and dangerous element when supporters turn on even their own players as evidenced by the incident involving West Brom and Northern Ireland's Chris Brunt

"The mob mentality is the thing that is quite scary," said former Chelsea and Everton winger Pat Nevin on tonight's Off The Ball as he discussed the coin-throwing incidents as well as Andrews' story.

"The mob, or a group within it, can decide. The mob, if they start, the player can have a great game, it kind of doesn't matter at that point in time."

Pat also added that fans can do the same thing to pundits that they turn against.
