Irish cycling duo in confident mood despite only confirming their Paralympic Games places very, very recently

Tomorrow afternoon, Tipperary and Wexford will team up in the Paralympic Games Men's Time Trial B Road Cycling.

Tipp man Peter Ryan and Wexford-based Marcin Mizgajski only found out that they would be in Rio in the last couple of weeks but rather than see that as a disadvantage, they feel it takes the pressure off.

"Once I got over the initial shock. It was probably two weeks of my life where I thought I wasn't going against three and a half years of raring to go. So once I got the head right and re-jigged the training, I'm very happy I'm back over here," Ryan told Newstalk Sports' Oisin Langan when he chatted to the duo in Rio ahead of their event.

"The two weeks off, I think, freshened us up and freshened the mindset as well. I'm coming over with no expectations and, if anything, like I said, 10 days ago I wasn't going to be here, so I have a fresh impetus as well and something to prove. The autopilot is definitely turned off and I'm going to enjoy every bit of it."

The duo also explained the format of their event.
