"We won't be looking at hoodoos" - New Mayo manager Stephen Rochford chats to Off The Ball

New Mayo manager Stephen Rochford says painful past history will remain just that - history.

The Crossmolina man was confirmed as the successor to Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly last night as he looks to build a team that will finally end that oft-mentioned All-Ireland football glory drought.

He joined us on Off The Ball tonight to talk about taking on the new challenge.

"Mayo have had some hard luck stories in All-Ireland finals and they've had some performances that we're not particularly proud of. But that's all history. We're looking to paint our own picture in 2016 and we won't be looking at hoodoos or any other situations," he told Joe Molloy and Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson.

"Going into the Mayo job brings its own natural pressure with the 60 years or so that are behind us. That's the nature of it. It was unfortunate what happened in the last couple of months but we are where we are and personally, me and the rest of the management are looking to the third of January," said the All-Ireland club-winning manager with Corofin in 2014-15.
