'Seahawks have a huge chip on the shoulder'

After this weekend's action, we know what two of NFL's leading teams will be up to on February 1st.

Seattle Seahawks return to defend the Superbowl title they won last year and this year's finale sees them joined by New England Patriots.

Channel 4 NFL analyst Mike Carlson joined us on Off The Ball tonight to review the weekend's action, including the incredible comeback from the Seahawks against Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game (listen to the commentary of the aftermath via the podcast).

Carlson says he does not expect the manner of defeat to be career-defining for Packers head coach Mike McCarthy "because the guy who will have his career defined, unfortunately, is Bostick the tight end who dropped the onside kick that gave Seattle the unexpected last possession".

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson had a poor game but rose to prominence as Packers lost discipline in the frantic closing stages.

Judging from the reigning champions post-game reactions, "there is a huge chip on the shoulder" and that "Pete Carroll the coach encourages that" according to Carlson.

"They play with reckless abandon. They commit a lot of penalties and get away with a lot of penalties and that's by design," he said, highlighting the aggressive style and strong defence.

"At the moment, I would pick them over New England."
