Seamus Power on his promising form on the PGA Tour

As things stand, Waterford's Seamus Power is ranked 122nd in the FedEx Cup rankings after a 26th place finish at the Barracuda Championship.

One half of the Irish men's duo as golf returned to the Olympics at Rio 2016, has been enjoying some strong performances on the PGA Tour in recent weeks with a Top 10 finish at the RBC Canadian Open at the end of July and ending tied for 18th and 25th respectively at the Barbasol Championship and John Deere Classic on the two previous weeks. That's leaving him on course to potentially retain his tour card.

Tonight the 30 year old joined us on Off The Ball to discuss his form and he explained why he made the decision to build the start of his career on tour in the US rather in Europe.

"I played college golf and I liked the type of golf and it suited my game a little better so I thought I'd give it a shot," said Power whose third level education took him to East Tennessee State University, adding that he tried to play both qualifying tours but that ultimately it had to be one or the other.

"But it's very, very tough and you almost have to pick one," he said.

The scope and scale of the PGA Tour has not been lost on Power.

"It's been a good year. The biggest adjustment is everything is just on a big scale from crowds to rewards and things you are required to do off the course. But it's been a brilliant tour and a fun year," he said.

"Hopefully if I play well next week, I'll be back out here next season and I'll be in a situation again where I'll become more comfortable in my surroundings."
