Transfer Talk

How do you solve a problem like Maria? Apparently, you flog him off to Paris Saint Germain for almost £50m pounds.

Yes, it looks as though this transfer story is slowly but surely pulling into the station and Manchester United will be hoping that they can focus their efforts on the remainder of their recruitment drive.

This morning they announced the signing of Argentine goalkeeper, Sergio Romero, on a free transfer. The 28-year-old signs from Sampdoria on a three-year deal, with an option of a further 12 months.

This may pave the way out for Victor Valdes who has fallen out of favour with manager Louis van Gaal.

Another Sergio may not be on his way to the club after all, Sergio Ramos that is, who has been told he will be staying firmly put at the heart of the Real Madrid defence.

United have been long time admirers of the defender and thought they may be able to bring him in as part of an exchange that would see David de Gea take up residency in the Santiago Bernabeu.

There may also be another clue as to the identity of the mystery striker that the Dutchman had eluded to last week.

New arrival Memphis Depay has posted a picture on instagram depicting himself and Belgian international, Romelu Lukaku, in conversation with the caption reading: “Me and @romelulukakubolingoli10 in an conversation. See you soon B.”

Aston Villa have strengthened their rearguard by agreeing a deal for Cordoba defender, Jose Angel Crespo.

The 28-year-old will travel to the midlands club today to complete a medical and an "agreement on principle" has  been struck.

Stevan Jovetic is another player completing a move, with Internazionale official Twitter account announcing the arrival of the player to the club today.

Jovetic had previously not made much of an impact at Manchester City, who are only likely to recoup a little over £10m pounds for the deal.

Inter aren’t the only Italian side dipping into the Premier League pool of talent, with Wojciech Szczesny close to moving to Roma on a season-long loan deal.

The Polish goalkeeper posted in Italian on Instagram today saying: 'Good evening Giallorossi! I am very happy, because I am going to Roma tomorrow. I'll see you soon.'

London neighbours Chelsea haven’t been as successful in the transfer market and are still hot in pursuit of John Stones.

They are readying an improved £26m bid for the defender, who will be a long term replacement for John Terry.

Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, looks to be following the droves of former stars to the MLS. Reports indicate that Montreal Impact have acquired the rights to sign Drogba and have tabled an 18-month contract worth $3m.

And finally in today’s transfer round-up, Stoke are aiming to bring a fourth (yes, fourth) former Barcelona player to their squad.

Ibrahim Afellay is reportedly set to sign, joining Moha El Ouriachi, Bojan Krkic and Marc Muniesa already at the Potters.
